Len Napolitano was enjoying a successful career in engineering when he realized his skills in technical sales, writing, and marketing could be combined with his passion for—and knowledge in—wine. That’s when he exchanged his calculator for a cabernet and began explaining complexity with clarity in his weekly wine column, Wineology: Intelligence for the Wine Consumer.
Over the next ten years, Len spread the word about wine, writing magazine articles, leading wine classes, and giving essential wine tips from 2003 to 2010 as Wineologist on TV’s Fine Living Network (now Cooking Channel). Throughout, he compiled dozens of questions people asked him about wine, and created the core of his book, Nose, Legs, Body! Know Wine Like The Back of Your Hand.
Today, Len is immersed in wine as author, wine columnist, oak specialist, and general manager for a boutique, luxury wine producer. He has toured the classic wine regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Tuscany and regularly visits wine regions in California, Oregon and Washington, gathering more wine intelligence to share with readers.
Starting his wine study in 1994 at the Chicago Wine School, Len later earned certification by the Society of Wine Educators and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust. Len also has an engineering degree and MBA in Marketing. He lives in the Paso Robles appellation in California’s Central Coast wine region with his wife and two large dogs.
